Wahta Mohawks - Waste Transfer Station and Landfill Closure

The Wahta Mohawks is a First Nation located in southern Ontario, approximately 50 kilometers south of Parry Sound. The community is accessible year round from Highway 400 and Muskoka Road 38 interchange. This project includes the construction of a new waste transfer station for Wahta Mohawks as well as the closure of the existing landfill. The existing landfill is approaching capacity. The proposed Waste Transfer Station include an Attendant's Facility (trailer), a 3-bay elevated sawtooth platform, roll off bins for wastes installed against the platforms retaining wall, new concrete storage areas with steel structured overhang for white goods, scrap metal, tires, leaf and yard wastes and bulky wastes, alongside a hazardous waste disposal container, as well as electronic waste and mattresses sea cans. The proposed facility will have poured reinforced concrete floor slabs, and concrete block walls and insulation. The selected Waste Transfer Station is designed to accommodate the communities waste needs over the next 30 years.
