Malpeque Small Craft Harbour Dredge and Disposal Zone Amendments

The Malpeque Cove Small Craft Harbour entrance channel is dredged multiple times annually as per conditions of a Disposal at Sea Permit that is issued annually by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Due to changing environmental conditions at the dredge site, a number of changes to the Disposal at Sea Permit are being requested for the 2021-22 season. Fisheries and Oceans Canada –Small Craft Harbours is requesting to expand the boundaries of both the "Dredge and Disposal Zone" and "Dredge Only Zone", increase permitted volumes for disposal, and allow for side-casting disposal within the Dredge Only Zone.

Notice of Determination

April 1, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada- Small Craft Harbours has issued its Notice of Determination after evaluation of the project to expand the dredge and disposal zone at Malpeque Small Craft Harbour and has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
