Intake Pipe Extension - Yarmouth, NS

Paturel International (Newell Lobsters Co.) in Yarmouth, NS is proposing to extend two existing 12" diameter intake pipes approximately 1,000ft to the edge of the channel to reach colder cleaner water. The pipes are to be bottom laid in the mud flats and is expected to sink into the silt on the harbour bottom. Each pipe will consist of a suction screen attached to a cement block anchor just below the low water mark at the edge of the channel.

2023-07-16 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Transport Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
