Abram's Village Wharf Removal and Armour Stone Replacement

Wharf structure #408 at Abram's Village Small Craft Harbour has fallen into a severe state of disrepair. It is a timber pile structure with remnants of a timber deck. In order to address its deteriorated condition, DFO-SCH is planning to entirely remove structure #408 and replace it with an armour stone shore protection structure. All timbers from the existing structure will be pulled by an excavator, or cut off below grade, and disposed of as per provincial requirements. Once all timbers are removed, armour stone protection will be placed within the former footprint of structure #408. Any fill material excavated from within the footprint of the new armour stone structure will be disposed of as per provincial requirements. The existing structure #408 measures approximately 20m long by 3m wide, for a total footprint of 60m2. The dimensions of the new armour stone structure will be approximately 25 meters long by 4 meters wide, for a total footprint of approximately 100m2.
