Ministerial Order Designating Physical Activities For an Environmental Assessment Under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012

Whereas, Sundog RGS GP Inc. is proposing to develop the Sundog Renewable Generating Station Project, a run-of-river hydroelectric generating facility on the Athabasca River, located approximately 130 kilometres upstream of Fort McMurray, Alberta;

Whereas, the Minister of the Environment is of the opinion that an environmental assessment of the Sundog Renewable Generating Station Project is warranted in consideration of the potential for the Project to cause adverse environmental effects as defined in section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, including: fish and fish habitat, migratory birds, federal lands, and current use of lands and resources for traditional purposes by Aboriginal peoples;

Therefore, the Minister of the Environment, pursuant to subsection 14(2) of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, hereby designates the construction, operation, decommissioning and abandonment of the Sundog Renewable Generating Station Project proposed by the Sundog RGS GP Inc., which is linked to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency as the responsible authority.
