Joint Review of the Eastmain-1-A and Rupert Diversion Project:
Review of additional information

OTTAWA/QUÉBEC, December 13, 2005 - The project's proponent, Hydro Quebec Production, has begun to submit its additional information to the environmental impact statement in response to the requests for additional information issued by the review bodies on August 2, 2005.

The French version of Volumes 1 to 7 of the additional information is now available. According to the proponent, Volumes 8 to 10, as well as the complete English version, will be submitted to the review bodies in the coming weeks.

The review bodies are proceeding immediately with their assessment of the proponent's responses. In this context, the public may submit comments on the contents of Volumes 1 to 7 until Friday, January 13, 2006.

The additional information submitted by the proponent can be consulted at the locations specified in the Appendix of this press release. Moreover, these documents are available on the Internet sites of the Canadian Environmental Agency, the COMEX and the Public Information Office.

Once they have reviewed the additional information from the proponent, the review bodies will decide whether they can proceed with public hearings on the impacts of the proposed project. If so, the review bodies will announce the dates and locations of the hearings.

The review bodies are meeting their commitment to keep the public informed so that members of the public can effectively contribute to the assessment of the project.
