Halifax Lateral Pipeline

Description: Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline Management Ltd. has submitted a proposal to construct a lateral pipeline to transport natural gas from its main transmission pipeline southwest of Stellarton in the northern part of the province to the Tufts Cove generating facility in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On October 4, 1999, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authorities for appropriate next steps.
