Introduction to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012

Goal

This course provides participants with an overview of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012) and its regulations. It also introduces the environmental assessment (EA) process and the requirements that apply to projects for which the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is the responsible authority and when the Agency supports EAs by Review Panel.

Ideal Participants

  • Individuals who are or will be involved with the EA of a designated project under CEAA 2012.
  • Individuals who have an interest in understanding CEAA 2012 and its application to projects for which the Agency is the responsible authority and when the Agency supports EAs by Review.

Outcomes and Benefits

The course will:

  • provide participants with an overview of the key elements of CEAA 2012 and its regulations;
  • help participants understand when a federal EA is required under CEAA 2012; and
  • inform participants about how the Agency conducts EAs when it is the responsible authority and supports EAs by Review Panel.
